The beta, in plain words

You get a working build of Capaxima for free before it is finished. We get to hear where it is wrong. These are the terms of that trade; requesting a key means you accept them.

1. What you get

A Windows build of Capaxima and a personal beta key, free of charge, for the length of the beta program. The key lets you install and use the app on up to two computers that you use yourself. You may not share the key, sell it, or use it on somebody else’s behalf.

2. What stops it — read this one

The beta build has two switches that the finished product will not have. We are telling you about both up front:

  • A date inside the build. Every beta build stops working on a date baked into it, about six weeks after it was made. A newer build from this site starts it again.
  • A daily check with our server. On start, and about every six hours while it runs, the app asks capaxima.com whether your key is still valid. It can go up to one day without an answer; after that it stops until it reaches the server again. If your key has been withdrawn, or your month has ended, the app stops at the next check.

A key is valid for 30 days and can be extended on request. We can withdraw a key at any time — if the beta program ends, if the terms are broken, or if we have to — and we will say why when we can. Your boards are files on your own disk; nothing on this page can touch them, and you keep them whatever happens to the key.

3. What it is not

It is a beta. It may have bugs, it may lose an edit, the board format and the MCP tool names may still change before 1.0. Do not use it as the only copy of a plan you cannot afford to lose; keep backups the way you would with any software this young. The software is provided as is, without any warranty, and we are not liable for damages arising from its use, to the extent the law allows. This does not limit anything the law does not allow us to limit.

4. What we ask back

Use it on a real plan and tell us where it was wrong. A sentence to [email protected] is enough; a screenshot is better. Anything you tell us about the product we may use to improve it, without owing you for it. Anything about your project stays with you — we never receive it and would not want to.

5. Your data

What we store about you and for how long is in the privacy notice. The short version: your email and the name you typed; the key and its status; a daily check-in carrying the key, a one-way id of your computer and version numbers; and, in the background, usage statistics: how long the app is in use, how often each function is opened, simple counters of what is done (tasks created, bars moved on the Gantt chart, tasks assigned, people and vacations added, new projects started), how full a plan is and how big its team is as ranges, and technical crash reports. These are part of taking part in the beta and are tied to your key, so we can talk to the people who use it. Nothing from inside your boards, ever: no board, project, task or person names and no text you typed. If you do not want the statistics, write to [email protected] and we delete them and stop storing more.

6. Ending it

You can stop at any time by uninstalling the app and writing to us to delete your account. We can end the beta program, or your part in it, by withdrawing the key; the app then stops at its next check, and section 2 explains how. Ending the beta does not oblige us to release a product, and does not oblige you to buy one.

7. The legal part

These terms are between you and [full legal name], sole proprietor, Poland, trading as Capaxima. Polish law applies, and the courts of Poland have jurisdiction, without affecting the protection you have as a consumer under the law of the country you live in. If one clause turns out to be unenforceable, the rest stands. If we change these terms, the date at the top moves and the change is named on this page; keeping to the beta after that is accepting the change.
